A
native of Germany, Marita Marcano has a Master's
degree (Diplom) in Applied Linguistics: Translation and
Interpretation from the University of
Heidelberg, Germany, one of the most renowned educational
institutions for translators and interpreters in Europe.
Furthermore, she is certified as a translator by the
German Chamber of Commerce (IHK).
Already
in her childhood, growing up near the borders to Belgium, Luxemburg
and the Netherlands, she dreamed of traveling the world, learning
foreign languages, and meeting people from different cultures. She
started with studying Latin, followed by English, French, Spanish,
and later Italian and Dutch. Early on she decided to make her
passion her profession.
Through
her studies in Spain (Universidad de
Málaga) and the United States (Bucknell University), while
working in France and the Netherlands, and during
extensive travels throughout Europe, North America,
and Latin America she has obtained the multicultural
background that is indispensable for her profession.
During
her 10 years as an in-house
translator and interpreter for German, English, Spanish, and French at Alcatel
SEL AG in Stuttgart, Germany she acquired profound technical knowledge in
all areas of telecommunications, information technology, electrical
engineering, and electronics.
In 1996 she started her own
company, MM translations, specializing also in
software localization and computer hardware. In cooperation with a
network of professional and highly specialized translator colleagues
in Germany, the US and Spain, MM translations Inc. can also manage larger
translation projects and translations from German into English,
Spanish, and French.
